Q&A Frequently Asked Questions
Can I increase the number of I/O points using a Modbus/TCP-compatible DIO Unit?
▶
A: smartPLC only supports server functions, so you cannot increase the number of I/O points using DIO Unit, etc.
If the number of input/output points is insufficient, can it be expanded using expansion units from other companies?
▶
A: You cannot use expansion units from other companies.
In addition to the input/output on the back of the smartPLC, numbers ⑱, ⑲, and ⑳ can also be used as input/output.
(*Note: Connectors ⑲ and ⑳ are not E-CON type connectors.)

Does it have an analog input/output function?
▶
A : There is no analog input/output function.
Only K-type thermocouples and load cells can be connected.
Only K-type thermocouples and load cells can be connected.
Please inform the rated load of the general output.
▶
A : The rated load is DC24V 400mA.
For safety reasons, can an Emergency Stop button or Area Sensor be used to shut off the power to the output side?
▶
A: Inside the smartPLC, there is a connector called “Power Control 24V Output E-CONS (E-CON6)” for controlling 24V power. If an Emergency Stop button is connected to this section, the 24V power supply can be directly cut off via hardware.
Is there a circuit protector function inside the device to protect the external input/output circuit?
▶
A : Yes - There is a fuse inside the electrical circuit which will automatically cut off the circuit when the current flows over 10A.
Please explain about LAN communication.
▶
A: It can control up to 2 devices simultaneously through a Hub connection.
Please explain about the internal processing speed.
▶
A: It is usually between 1 ms and 10 ms, but it will vary depending on the length of the program and the function being used.
What is the Volume (VR) control button on the front panel used for?
▶
A: It can be used within a Ladder Program by setting a Maximum Value in the program, then the value of the VR button will be stored in an internal register proportional to the set value (Example: VR1's Maximum Value is set to 100).
When VR1 is set to be used for Timer setting, the user can freely adjust the time range between 0.0 and 10.0 seconds without the need to edit the program.

Can the PLC's internal auxiliary relay or data memory be controlled from a computer?
▶
A: This can be done using a free logic software provided by the company called “FS_Ladder” which can directly toggle the coil state (On/Off) and edit the numerical values in the registers.
Can programs created with other companies' products be converted to use with smartPLC?
▶
A: It cannot be converted directly. You must convert again by entering the data manually.
How long is the continuous work record?
▶
A: There is continuous usage data for 8 hours per day for 5 years. However, this product is not designed for 24-hour continuous operation.
